What I'm waiting for...

Post by bio » Wed Jun 08, 2005 5:20 am

Battlefield2 comes out on the 22nd of this month.

I need to upgrade my PC slightly (a better video card should do it).

Watch this video and be amazed (and yes... everything you see is from the game itself). Amazing!

Everything that exploded was Bio and I playing against his eldest.

Everything that made somthing explode was Bio's son.

Yeah... the boy is a brutal bastard.

Zipper and I went 2 against 1 on him one day... he mopped us up. It wasn't even pretty.

Hell... did we even kill him?

Are the odds good on there being a story involved here or is it just bang-bang-you're-dead?

The graphics are stunning - so much so I have a real hard time separating it from the real life stuff happening on the other side of the planet, which doesn't seem entertaining in the least. If there's a narrative element that can justify it, I suppose its possibly worthwhile.

Yeah.. there's a story. Bad guys are out to do bad things. You and your team mates have to stop them.

Um... that's about it.

It's basically capture the flag. You take a point and try to keep it. They try to take it from you and keep it.

It's a distraction, but a highly addictive one. I enjoy it mostly because my son also plays it. We buddy up in-game and fight together. He's an outstanding pilot and will fly an Apache... I play weapons officer (manning the big gun up front and some air to air missiles).

We patrol the skies, protect our territory, and cover our buddies when they call for support.

Basically, it's father-son time for us... and that's very cool.

I can't fly the planes worth crap. I only started playing a little while ago. And I only play when I am at Mike's.

The demo is now available for play!

Good luck getting it... the servers hare hard pressed to keep up with demand.

My copy will be down right around 5pm tonight. I may put it someplace where you can download it slightly faster than the 44kb/s I'm getting.

Scratch that... it died at 80mb, then again at 69mb.

It may take a while to pull this off.

On a side note... I just ordered the two Geforce 6600GT video cards that I was looking at (specifically the Leadtek WinFast A6600GT
TDH 128MB).

500mHz core, 128mb of GDDR3 memory clocked at 1GHz.

The 6800 Ultra was just stupidly expensive.... so we passed on that.

The 6600GT is actually faster than the 6800 (350mHz core, 700mHz memory) and 6800LE (~300mHz core, 700mHz memory). Even the 6800GT didn't offer much more (well... ok, double the memory, but the clock speeds weren't that impressive).

I know they have a different chipset with different features, but I'm feeling good about my purchase... so back off.

Yeah... I'm a geek.
