An evening of nostaligia

Post by bio » Sun May 15, 2005 9:47 am

Mrs. Bio and I went to a concert last night: Loverboy was the headliner.

They've been making music for 25 years now.... and those years have apparently been quite a bitch.

They still sounded like they did in the 80's... but with the exception of the drummer, they all had gray hair, and the lead singer is kinda fat. Still, he hadn't lost his voice and the band was quite tight.

It was worth the price of admission.

About half way through the show, Mrs. Bio pointed about 6 rows down and said "Is that Eddie?". Sure enough, it was he, and Mrs. Eddie too.

We all hooked up at the Season Ticket afterwards. Good times! :-)

Lady J wants to know if the lead singer was still wearing his sweatbands?

No... but he was sweating like a pig and had to keep wiping is face down.

At one point he went for a high note, grabbed his throat, and stepped back for a drink.

The lead guitarist was pretty cool. He was hammering out the chords effortlessly. It was quite impressive (I guess that's what experience does).

Weird thing at the concert. According to Eddie, people were waving their cell phones back and forth like we used to do with lighters back in the day. I guess not as many people smoke... or something. Still... that's weird.

some were taking pictures but a large number of them were just waving them back and forth (lighted up of course), it was bizzare.

When the lead singer came out at the start I couldn't stop laughing for about the first 15 minutes. It was hilarious. He had the voice but he had the moves of a 50 year old white guy trying to rock out. We went with a couple of our friends and the one gal kept wondering if he'd go back stage and try coming out in the red leather pants. Thankfully he didn't. Still great people watching.

According to the website, he sold those pants on ebay. And I guess you can buy an autographed red headband from him.

Ain't that the truth. And on a phone, that's just not happening. I tried taking a pic at an Interpol concert back in February. They were backlit almost the entire show, and there was tons of smoke. And I was using my cameraphone.

The result: a blueish blob floating on a white and purple cloud.

I'm glad *I* know what it is. Nontheless, a very poor photo.
