I'M GOING TO DAYTON!!

Yes yes, it's true, please don't be jealous. I get all the good assigments around here. :)

So I head out Monday morning at 7am for Dayton, OH for a customer visit. Never been to Dayton before so I have no idea what it's like. I'm only going for 3 days and I'll probably be busy working in the hotel when I'm not at the customer's office.

Anyway, I'll be posting intermittently next week. Doubt I'll get network connection at their office, but the hotel will have high speed. And I'll be eating really big steaks all week.

Alright, I'm jealous about this at least.

I'm nursing my jealousy with the knowledge that the gf and I are going to Denver this summer to see the Pixies (third time in about a year) with the Violent Femmes opening. We'll be camping for a few days and then... Red Rocks here we come. If you've never seen it, you should check out their site. Its actually a more beautiful location than the Gorge (where the Pixies are also playing this summer).

And just to dilute any remaining jealousy, I may grill big steaks the days we camp.

Get there and skip work for all 3 days to see this:GO HERE, OR DIE NOT KNOWING

Mifta, that should be one of the best shows this year! I envy you.

I could go grill a big steak right now if I wanted to. :P

I love the per diem.

They give us $50.00 a day for food when we're on the road. I do the same thing that eddie does when I'm on the road.

They did send the two of us out together once to Vancouver, BC. The food was good... if you could stand watching another member of our party eat (food hanging out of his mouth, talking with a mouth full of noodles, etc). Of course, then I ate a bad oyster and had a serious case of explode-o ass.

Yup... that was fun.

I work for Caterpillar Tractor in warehousing. My business trip of a lifetime was about 2 months before I met Lady J.

They sent me to Miami, FL for 2 weeks during spring break. It was first class all the way as it was a last minute booking. I stayed at the world famous Don Shula's golf resort the first half. I worked with the graveyard shift and had all day to go sightseeing. I was working 16 hour days and getting about 4 hours sleep. I was pumped though so I didn't reqiure any other sleep. I didn't eat very good as I was always so busy that there was no time for sit down food. Dunkin' Doughnuts for dinner everynight at 3:00 a.m.

The highlight was my trip down to Key West on Easter. The whole place reminded my of the French Qaurter's of New Orleans that I have always seen in the movies. They had Barkers outside the bars screeming "all you can drink, $20". As soon as someone stumbble out they started finding someone to take thier place. The curbs outside the bars were literaly filled with vomit, How cool is that? I didn't drink as I had to drive back to Miami to my hotel within a few hours.

A little off topic but here I go... Has any one ever see the U2 concert "live at Red Rocks". It was in 1983 and they filmed it. I have been trying to find it for years with no luck. I know I is still available to the T.V. stations as PBS aired it a few years back on New Years Eve. Would just love to get a DVD copy of it. This was my favorite period of U2's. This is the show that the "Under A Blood Red Sky" live album comes from.

Oddly enough, that was my first ever concert. I'm actually in there a couple of times if you ever find the video (Strangely I don't own it), or rather a 10-year-old version of me. Ironically, despite getting a perfectly good recording of the band live at that show, the LP actually is culled from several different locations. Anyway, the DVD has not been issued yet and the VHS is hard to come by. Ebay, sadly, or half.com are your best bets.

Once again, how totaly f*cking cool!

It was one of the first concerts I ever watched on T.V. USA's Night Flight used to show it all the time.

I was 13 in 1983, and was just sprouting in finding my own music. Bio's brother was a big influence to me with this. He turned me on to U2 when they were really unknown here in Spokane. A lot of other alt. music. My other big influence was Whitworth's radio station. That's were I heard the Pixies for the first time.

My mom's b/f went down to Dayton for about 4 months on a business trip and while he was down there he went to National Museum of the United States Air Force, he said he really liked it. I have a shirt from there. It is really cool.

So there is something cool there eh? Sadly I'm not staying over a weekend so I doubt I'd be able to go but thanks for the info. If I do get a free night that may be something to do. Unfortunately my nights will probably consist of working via the high speed connection on tasks that aren't going to be getting done here while I'm gone. I have to go on this trip, but none of my other tasks can slip. Oh well, part of the reason I'm salary I guess.

As for the Vancouver trip bio, all I gotta say is "muffins in the mornin', woo, woo!!"

Well night 2 and I just ate a side of beef with a skewer of BBQ shrimp :)

Don't think I'll eat again until lunch tomorrow.

Last night was Hooters, the waitresses were nice to look at (well some of 'em anyway), the food wasn't all that great and I was up all night with heartburn.
Getting some work done though. I think I'm gonna gain about 10lbs though.

The work is good, I'm here collecting info for the project I'm on. It's going pretty quickly. Problem is, when we get done here at 2-3pm local time, it's only noon back home so I come back to the hotel and work until about 7 or8pm. It's all good though. We went past the Air Musem but no time to stop. In fact we may be done a day early but the flights back home are booked so we may be stuck until the afternoon Thursday flight. So maybe we'll make it to the musem afterall.
