So the other half bought one of these last night.

It should work for the cats...I don't know how well it works for my pocket book, but oh well, its only money, I'll make more.

I knew someone who had one of these.

It helps if you make sure they have power... and you clean the hopper... and you don't let it sit turned off until they're so full of waste that they can't clean themselves, followed by taking it outside and letting it fill with rain.

Clay + rain = not a self cleaning cat box (but it works well for cement goulashes).

I believe he said it worked pretty well before he fuckered it up.

Does it scare "the shit" out of the cats?

yes, it was funny.

One of the cats HAS to use the litter box immediately following a changing of the sand. I don't know why, but its an obsession with him.

So she filled the thing with sand, pressed the button to run the rake looking thing and the cats freaked out. They all got really bushy, tails about 3x normal diameter. When it finished its cycle, they were sniffing, sneaking and trying to get the courage to approach.

One cat actually used it within about 10 minutes, the other cats may still be holding it, I don't know.

They say on the website that is quiet, not really...quiet compared to a Top fuel dragster, or Nascar engine, noisy compared to most of the stuff I have in my house. A pillow is quiet, in-fact, silent most of the time. Its not loud enough to wake me up (its in a room that shares a wall with my bedroom), but I can hear it in any room in the basement.

I have one....the work ok. You have to dump the litter out at least once a month and clean it. If you stick too much litter in it then it will run 5 times and then stop because it has a protection thing so it doesn't burn out the motor. You will get a scooper...for those really big chunks...and it will have things on the end to clean the rake off.
