Driving is a very serious thing. Don't take it lightly.
You weigh around a hundred pounds, a car weighs a couple thousand. There are forces like inertia, energy, mass, etc. that all contribute to losing control of a car. It happens.
I was young once too (still am in a lot of ways). I started driving around the place when I was 14. I started small, with tractors, then moved up to the family truck. I made my share of screw-ups, and luckily (with a guardian angel I'm sure) managed to live through them all.
I rolled my dad's pickup on the highway one day, not paying attention I just about rear-ended another car, so I swerved left, swerved right, and the circumfrential (is that really a word?) inertia rolled me right over. Turns out I was the only one in the accident. I got a pretty bad ticket out of it too.
I was going too fast one day to hit my parents driveway, and instead smacked the mailbox. I thought I got away with it, until my dad found mailbox paint on the fender (the post was painted yellow, the car was white).
Took a 15 MPH corner one winter in the Mach I, at about 15 MPH, it was icy. I got through the corner just fine, but as soon as I was straight, I hit the gas just a little too much (barely at all really), just missed a mailbox and put the whole car in the ditch, facing the wrong way. That time, I had to walk home and get another truck to pull me out. That was accidental, I figured the corner was the worst part, and I got through it, just giving it a little gas still got me undone though. You really have to watch things.
Stupid. I once had three friends in my Mazda RX-2. (yes, TWO, not seven) I down-shifted for a corner (again in the winter) and the back end came a little loose. Pushed in the clutch and let it go, but it was all over in a second. We ended up in the opposite ditch. Three friends pilied out and lifted the car back onto the road and we continued on. If any car had been coming, we'd have hit them. I should have been going slower to start with. The ver next week, another friend took the corner too fast in his parents Volvo. He hit a tree sideways and shattered his left leg in something like five or seven places. He was in a cast for months.
Just last week, on Tuesday, the accident that was in the 400 block of Christensen road, was right in front of my parents place. A 19 year old girl, going too fast in her parents Cadillac. She failed to negotiate a very small jog in the road, and hit my parents mailbox. Now, you have to understand, this mailbox was mounted on a 10 inch I-beam. The car was totalled. I understand she is fine, but I imagine her parents are not amused.
Most of these lessons in life were due to speed. Not really fast speed, they were all low-speed accidents, but they were due to speed in excess of what the conditions allowed.
I think speed is a powerful adrenaline rush. It's cool. But I do most of my speed on the race track now. It's a little safer.
Don't be afraid to drive, just be respectful of it. Be mindful of your place, and what everyone else is doing as well. Just about anyone can drive, and for many, it's a very safe way to travel. You just have to be aware, be respectful, and take your time. The older you grow, the more respect you get for it.
Sorry for being so long winded. I don't want you to be scared of driving, most likely you'll really need it someday.
Be careful, but drive.

Just follow Snoop Dog's advice:
Drive it like it's hot (hot, hot)
Or not.
Personally... I think Snoop is a no talent hack, but then again, that's just me.

I don't like most rap, especially not Snoop Dogg. Thanks for the advice. We had an accident this winter with my brother and fortunately he came out ok. Before I was born my mom's brother died from losing control. He died because he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, he had gotten in a fight with his wife before. That is why I won't drive when I am angry, I run.

I am a rather big Snoop Dog fan. His talent in rap and remixing is legendary and he single handedly revitalized the world's interest in Parlament Funkadelic the best funk band in the world. Along with Dr. Dre he is responsible for breathing new life into the industry by alowing new artists to take the front stage. He is an excellent producer. He continues to make a record every couple of years and just like Emminem if you actually listen to the words it's all quite hilarious. He knows how to have a good time and poke fun at himself as is evident by his various cameos. I cannot understand how folks can say he has no talent. A buddy of mine said the same thing about Puff Daddy then I MADE him listen to a CD of his and he was like, "wow I seriously misjudged him."

I guess it has everything to do with what you're into.
I'm not a fan of Emenem, Dr. Dre, or Puffy (if that's what he's calling himself this week... I don't keep track). It's not that I don't like the genera, it's just that none of those artists hit it with me.
I am, however, a big fan of bands like the Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Fat Boy Slim, etc.
Different tastes for different folks I guess. The wheel still spins around regardless.

I've actually become quite the Eminem fan as of late. His lyrics are pretty damn funny.

Because white affluent brits have a lot in common with urban black rappers, yeah! Just messing with ya bio, but seriously there's little comparason but it's OKAY because you're still hip in my book. Hey have you ever listened to Massive Attack? Most people are familiar with their best work "Mezzanine" and if you're not you should get it but the early album (featuring "Tricky") Blue Lines is solid gold, two of my favorite tracks are "a prayer for england" and "hymn of the wheel".

Well I like most kinds of music, and it's not that they have no talent. As Bio said "I guess it has to do with everything you're in to."

They're not too bad. I've only heard a few tracks by them though.
