That reminds me. Gozirra just celebrated it's 50th anniversary in Japan, with the re-release of the original (sans Raymond Burr). That copy only saw limited showing in a handful of theaters (from what I've read).
I'd sure like to get my hands on a copy of the non-Raymond Burr epic. I don't care if I have to watch it with sub-titles. I'm told it's a much deeper and more engaging film in it's original form.
Anyone? Bueller?

I'm actually a Gozirra fan
My mother-in-law took in foreign exchange teachers... specifically English teachers from Japan who were in the US for 9 months for additional education.
One of them, Yoshi, was amazed that we had even heard of Gozirra over here (I happened to be watching the 1998 version with Matthew Broderick one day).
Of course, Yoshi was amazed by EVERYTHING in here. "Everything in America is BIG" was his favorite thing to say... and he applied this to pickles, cars, houses, hamburgers, you name it.

You watched Godzirra with Mathew Broderick?
Did you ask him why he did Biloxi Blues?

But I would have had to sit on a plane next to some fat ass who would have taken up too much fuel.
I'm more of an environmentalist (cough) than -that-!

Hell, if I were sitting next to him, I'd be beating him for the movie that was on.
Actually not true. He's got a permanent hall pass from me for Farris Bueller.

Oh yeah... we go waaaay back.
I'm the one who convinced him to do Ferris Bueller's Day Off (just because I wanted to get it on with Jennifer "Num-Num" Grey).

Man, I would have stepped directly on Jennifer Gray's nose to climb over her and get next to:

I am TOTALLY with you on that one Miftah. She's one of the reasons I love watching that flick. Especially the pool scene.

Also one of many reasons I have to constantly explain to my friends why I love:

Get the director's cut. It's much better.
I mainly love that flick because its almost disorienting. Doesn't look or feel like a normal film at all. It also gets a lot of shit for this, as do I for liking it.
It's also insanely romantic (classical sense), so you have to have a high tolerance for sentimantality. You can't be a traditional tough guy and like this film.
