I heard about it on NWCN.
SCRATCH THAT! It's been crushed by the Governor and Democratic leaders.
Bastages... all of 'em!

You guys have no income tax. What are you gonna run the schools on if not your sales taxes? Property tax alone would never be enough. Certainly not in rural areas of Washington. I would have knocked it down too. I'd have voted it down and worn a t-shirt bragging about it.
You're mad about the cost of gas? Send an email or letter to your congressmen telling them to knock down the oil companies' pricing based on speculation. My mom works at a refinery and she'll tell you straight out that the pricing is based on "hype."
When a gasoline-refining company buys oil, it does so in quantities that drive the cost way below market/barrel prices. They're no more buying barrels of oil than you are, and their prices are fairly steady. The price of consumer grade gasoline fluctuates with market conditions because it allows the oil companies to inflate prices at their whim. Yes, shortages have some effect, but not as much as you'd think.
And it isn't your gas stations doing it either, because those guys make a VERY thin margin over cost. You want to know why this is happening? Because it can. You want to know how it happens? Because you let it.
I'd like it noted that this entire tirade passed by without me even making one reference to Bush's energy policy commission (made up of oil/coal magnates)... oh shit. But you just wait and see if he doesn't use this as an excuse to start cutting into Alaskan preserves again. Its coming as sure as the sun shall rise tomorrow.

I think that gas prices are getting so high that we should make it illegal to use the 9/10 in the price. Who does it fool anyway?
