Scratch one more cat at my place

Post by bio » Thu Apr 24, 2003 4:20 pm

We lost another cat this morning, but this time it wasn't a violent end.

Fritz, my eldest sons cat gave up the ghost shortly before I work up this morning. The cause: old age (he was 11, which is fairly old for a cat).

He's taken up residence in the flower garden under the weeping cherry tree.

At this rate, I'll be out of pets by the end of the year.

I get my cats cremated when they die and I have the ashes in pretty boxes.

Is your son upset? That's a long time to own a cat.

Well my neice, who lives with us, her fish died this morning. Not too big a deal, except she's only six and this was her first pet. And yes she discovered it. I think she had forgotten to feed him for a couple of days cause he looked like he'd been eating his tail or something. Pretty grizzly as far as fish go.
So we may be making a trip to the pet store this weekend.

Um... we haven't told him yet. We decided to wait for the weekend.

Well... did you tell him? Did you let the proverbial 'cat out of the bag' and offer to let him get a new kitty?

Yeah... I told them.

My eldest did the "whatever" thing (I was pretty much expecting that... he's 14). I was more worried about my youngest son, as he tends to over-react to things (when his cat was crushed by the murderous garage door, he was upset for days).

He took it pretty well too... he had figured that the cat was dying, as he had seen him.
