Your misfortune is my entertainment

As you all know, Eddie just got back from Germany.

Today, we went to the bank at lunch to exchange his remaining Euros for good old fashioned American green backs. Let the entertainment begin!

We started at his bank, but they only do Canadian exchanges. So, we went to US Bank to try our luck there. He was "greeted" by a complete bitch of a teller who had all the personality of one of the animatronics at Chucky Cheese. She just stared at him for a good 10 seconds before even acknowledging him. After telling him "no" to the exchange, she suggested that we try Bank of America. When I asked where that was, she said (and I quote): "that way" *insert a thumb jerk to her right*.

A few miles down the road (and still no Bank of America in site), I called my bank on my cell, but was again shot down on doing the exchange. Finally... we found a Bank of America.

After spending a good 10 minutes in line (they don't exactly staff the place well during the lunch banking rush), he finally got to a teller. Miracles-o-plenty! They do exchange Euros there!

Of course, the exchange rate she offered him was well below the actual rate (he looked it up before we left) and there is apparently a $10 fee to get them to do anything for you... but he was able to get his money (well... most of what it was actually worth).

I think next time, he'll just drink a few more beers and use it all up before he comes home.

Yeah, I think the problem with the second teller was that we "interupted" her conversation with her neighbor. Damn us customers, we ruin all their fun.
Should have look for the wires, I know they were there somewhere.

that's why i usually just take my debit/credit cards when i travel rather than tons of cash... atm's are all at least the same faceless corporate crap but you dont feel quite as raped when a machine short changes you and your own bank demand a cash fee... ahhh free banking

yeah, I used my cards quite a bit, but still like to have some cash in hand just in case. it wasn't a ton of money, but enough that I wanted it exchanged. especially since my chances of being in Europe again within the next year or so are probably pretty slim.
