It's official, I'm contagious
I woke up feeling uniquely horrible yesterday, and it hasn't gotten any better today, so I ended up going in and getting checked out.
I'm officially COVID positive. Yay.
I wasn't having issues with breathing yet, but I was running a low grade fever and (more importantly) my whole body hurt, even my teeth. They injected me with a coctail of benadryl, something that made me itch, and a metric ton of steroids, which immediately made me feel 1000% better. Then they shoved a q-tip so far up my nose that I swear they swabbed the back of my skull. That was uniquely fucking horrible.
I have an oximeter so I can keep an eye on my O2 and I'll be recovering at home so long as breathing isn't an issue.
Fuck.

Damn man, that sucks. Really hope it's mild and you get over it soon. Take care!

Re: It's official, I'm contagious
Thank you! I'm sure it all be fine
They said the drug cocktail they gave me may help reduce the severity and length of the symptoms, so there's that. They injected me with benadryl to help with the side effects (that shit burns when you inject it!!), then something else to offset that side effect (it immediately made my taint itch like crazy... which was FUCKING AWESOME!!!), but my body is apparently grumpy anyway and now I'm covered in red dots.

Quite apart from the obvious and sincere concern for your wellbeing, I am fascinated by the unique experience people have with this thing, so please keep us updated. I don't think there's any such thing as oversharing when it comes to this. So long as you're comfortable telling.

Re: It's official, I'm contagious
Thanks for the words of support, I appreciate it!
The steroid cocktail is still doing it's job, and I'm not overly horrible today. The red dots have also lessened so we have to cancel our plans on playing connect the dot with them to see what it makes (I bet it was a COVID virus, my wife thought it would be a kitten). Mostly just fatigue, a sore throat, slightly labored breathing and coughing up some seriously thick and viscous crap that I have to chew my way out of.
Phlegm, the other white meat.
My wife went in for testing today but won't get the results back for 2-4 days (I got mine back in 6 hours at the hospital). Hopefully she and my mother-in-law are/will be unaffected.
My wife notified her employer about her exposure and they want her back at work tomorrow, wearing a mask and socially distancing herself, of course. Her fellow employees aren't thrilled, but it is what it is. So long as she doesn't test positive, that's time away from me which keeps her safer. I am, of course, wearing a mask, washing my hands and sanitizing everything I touch, eating by myself, and seeping in one of the guest rooms. Hopefully, this will be a one infection home. Fingers crossed!

Sorry for the long delay. Nearly fully recovered. Still with the fatigue and not being able to taste anything. I was told to take zinc supplements and do things like smell coffee grounds before drinking coffee to retrain myself.
Currently, my beer tastes like fizzy water
