Got wood?

Transparent wood, lighter and more durable than glass, is now a thing. It also has better insulation properties.

Windows that bend instead if breaking. Far fewer emissions during manufacturing, and a the primary ingredient is a renewable resource. Sign me up!

That's completely unsustainable. Harvesting from the rainforest is a poor business model as it will only produce for a short period before the resources are gone. To make this work you have to have tree farming on a massive scale. I don't condone clearing land to do this, and we have enough cleared land already in the areas were balsa grows best for this to work.

If we committed to this, it would mean more trees, more economic opportunity for the people who live where the trees are grown and harvested, and safer glass. The downside is it would be a monoculture making it susceptible to disease and other things period it is a piss poor substitute for an actual rainforest, but it's a lot better than cleared land for grazing.
