Genetic engineering means playing God?
If so, call me Dr. Moreau, because I'm absolutely in favor of this.

I hate Mosquitoes as much as the next guy but they have their place in the food chain. The larvae serve as food for many fish and birds.Gooch wrote:Agreed. And honestly, who gives a rats ass about mosquitos. Seriously. Mosquitos suck.
I too am in favor of this as long as caution is used. This idea seems like it would work great as long as the modified critters do indeed die off quickly.miftah wrote:If so, call me Dr. Moreau, because I'm absolutely in favor of this.
There are people out there that get all sorts of panicky about the scientists playing around with the genetic makeup of things only to turn around and eat some Domesticated cow or seedless bananas. Very few things that we as a society come into to contact on a daily basis are "original".

While I hate mosquito's as much as the next guy, remove them and say bye-bye to the Dragon Fly (it's primary food source is the mosquito).
I would have been happier if we had spent the time and money it took to genetically engineer a mosquito that would die early and fronted that money toward a vaccine for Dengue Fever.
