In typical atypical Radiohead style, Radiohead have announced they're releasing their new album themselves in 10 days in digital download format, on December 3rd, on deluxe CD/LP format and in spring (March-ish) via traditional outlets on CD.
So how much do you pay for a digital download to the artist? Turns out, the correct answer is however much you think is fair.

Bandwidth and storage have become so cheap. I was reading today about the New Pornographer's latest album. The "Executive Edition" of the album comes with three blank CDs. The content for these CDs lives on a passworded website. One of the CDs is to be a live show, which hasn't even been recorded yet, as they're currently on the tour wherein which it will be recorded.
