Highway fun

Post by eddiecanuck » Wed Sep 17, 2003 10:03 am

Driving home yesterday I got caught in our downpour/hailstorm on the freeway. Of course I was going INTO the sun (forgot my sunglasses at home), and it was a bitch. I saw 4 different accident results and one accident that happened RIGHT NEXT to me. Some gal was stopped in the center lane of the freeway, I don't know if her car died or what, but there was a car behind her with flashers on, and then a car behind that with no flashers. Well the combination sun, rain, and high speed was too much for the next guy. I saw him plow into the third car, then the car behind him joined the mix and the car behind him added to it. Then looking in the mirror I saw the next two vehicles pull stunt movie driving moves and avoid hitting the pile up.
I proceeded to the nearest exit after that. It would have also helped if these idiots would have SLOWED DOWN. Heard on the news that night that at least 50 cars had been in accidents from about 4:30 to 8pm. And it's not even winter yet.

In other news, my Dodge Ram is in the shop for recall notices and to fix some other issues. With my luck lately I'm scared to death. Hopefully I won't be able to start another thread.

For those not in the area here, there is a write up on the happenings.
The funny thing is, after getting off the highway I was listening to the radio and they do their commute home update on traffic flow, they never mentioned the accidents on I-90. They talked about other accidents in town but nothing on the highway. Couldn't believe it.

And that, my friends, is why I take Upriver Drive to and from work.

Scenic views along the river, no idiots plowing into my ass at high speed. Yeah, it takes 10 minutes longer to get to work, but at least I get there.
