Well I had a somewhat interesting ride into work today. With it going up to 90 degrees again today I rode my motorcycle in. Been riding for a couple weeks, same route each day, pretty repetitive. Until this morning. Got on Bigalow Gulch (a somewhat backroad that A LOT of people use) and was following someone on a motorcycle. As we were riding I noticed it was a Harely of some sort (maybe a Dyna Glide or Springer), looked new, had lots of bells and whistles. The rider had a full face helmet, somewhat unusual for a Harely rider, but denoting a "newer" rider. We go the long haul down the road and get to the end at a stop sign. The rider stops, I pull up behind and stop. Then the rider goes to turn and instead of turning, promptly tips the bike over, taking herself with it. The last thing I noticed as she fell, was the Washington State Motorcycle Safety Course sticker pasted to the back of her helmet.
Being the nice guy I am, I pulled my bike over and helped her heft her very heavy and very expensive bike upright. As we are doing so she tells me she does this everyone once in a while...
So, if you know you're gonna dump your bike from time to time, why the hell spend in excess of $15,000 on a new bike?? I just don't get it. I understand some people need a little more practice than others, and I pray to God I never lay my bike down, but I also didn't pay that much money for it. For crying out loud, start out with a used bike you don't care much about, then work up. As I said, I just don't get it. Hopefully the worst she ends up doing is drops it a couple more times.
