MUSIC AND FILM PIRATES FACE JAIL
PRESIDENT BUSH signed a new law yesterday (April 27) which rules that people who pirate music and films on the internet face up to three years in jail.
The bill will target file-sharers who put copies of new films and songs online before their commercial release.
According to BBC News, the Motion Picture Association Of America (MPAA) said that 90% of pirated films were “stolen†by people in cinemas with camcorders taping films which are then put on DVDs or online.
Those people will now also face up to three years in jail.
Dan Glickman, president of the MPAA said: “There is evidence that criminal gangs use this kind of theft to support and expand their criminal enterprises.â€
