Japanese stuff?

Post by Eve » Thu Jul 31, 2003 2:55 pm

What's the story with the Japanese writing on the front page of your site. How long has it been there, what does it mean and why is it there??!

and while you're there, are you a toilet paper folder or scruncher?

The japanese you see on the page at the top is what the babblefish claims is "white woman black dog".

Of course, when you dump what they give you back into the translator and convert it to english, you get "The dog where the white woman is black" (which makes about zero sense, but amuses me greatly).

Just below the "winky-winky" pic, there's another graphic with the same wwbd at the top, but it also gets what the babblefish claims is "get your groove in!" below it (again.. it translates into "Profit do your groove" when you pipe it back in). If you do a mouse over, it says "Ahoka! Sodai gomi!" which translates roughly into "Shame! Public Humiliation!
"

So... the new website is:
The dog where the white woman is black
Profit do your groove!!

It's there because I've been getting a few hits from japan, and I added an applet that allows anyone to translate the page into one of 8 spiffy languages.

Gotta keep multi-cultural in this global village thingamabob.

I bet those hits from Japan were people looking for white women getting 'groovy' with their black dogs.....

Back when I used to do tech support for a graphics program, we input the product name in, translated it to some damn language, then back and were treated to the following:

Mud Hut Super Photo.

It was called that for the rest of the time I worked there.

Adobe PhotoDeluxe.

If you have PhotoDeluxe Home Edition v3 or higher (and most people do, as it comes bundled with friggin' everything), you can to to "help", "about" and let it scroll for a bit. You'll see my name in the credits.
